CHILD'S RUFFLE BAG 1

These bags seem simple enough to make. I figured (hoped) it would take only an hour or two to make. NOPE! Somewhere about four or more hours, depending on if I make the ruffles myself--I usually do, so that's about six hours, then. But I like the results.

My neighbor bought this Ruffle Bag for her granddaughter:

[SCG CRAFTS] HAND-PAINTED FLORAL BAG

I hand-painted this bag with intention for it to be sold to a young girl but it took sooo freakin' long to make it--from painting to embellishment--the bag would cost too much for the average child. Oh, well . . . . but at least I had fun making it!

This bag took some twelve hours to make, much of that time was spent in applying the four layers of paint, but I think it looks fabulous!

It's tricky to make the trim and seams at the side match up.
I did a pretty good job this time,
don't you think?

The lining is a soft pink and white fleece.

VARIATIONS ON MY MARGARET BAG DESIGN

My most popular bag design
is what I call the Margaret Bag.

I have a zillion variations of it,
ranging from a child's bag to an adult version
and applique and ruffles, and on and on.

I made the ruffles from an old skirt or dress,
the red, blue and white trim came from
Unique Thrift Store in Elizabeth, NJ,
and the short, red handle came as part of
a set from some forgotten catalog.

I recently made the following bag for a girl
about age seven or so.

But upon showing the bag to several adult females,
they thought it could also function well
as a clutch (minus the strap).

In creating designs, I never really know
how  the bag will be used or to what age group
the bag will find a market. Love that!

A Customer suggested that I could
remove the strap and sell it as a clutch bag
to adults. Hmmm, liking that idea. . . .

MY FIRST ATTEMPTS AT MAKING REPURPOSED DENIM BAGS

I have been soooo busy trying to create affordable products. And have failed basically. It takes four to eight hours on average to make the child and small to medium adult bags. 20+ hours if it is a custom tote or bag with lots of pockets and zippers.

You-Tube has inspired me quite a bit. Pinterest, Etsy and Ebay are other sources of inspiration. I have watched numerous videos on repurposed items. Thus, I've tried my hand at reusing denim jeans and jackets, etc.

----------------------------------------

This bag I wanted to keep for myself.
Once I put it up for sale (locally) it sold really fast!

The lining was a soft suede-like fabric.
I chose a metallic gold and purple stripe fabric for the pocket lining. I'm certain the linings sealed the deal.

and the same bag and pocket linings as above.
This one sold even quicker than its predecessor.
